Jalousie is a temporary spatial installation conceived as a cinematic experiment investigating the relationship between film and the projection space itself. Awarded 1st Prize in the YOUKI International Youth Media Festival open call, the project rethinks the architecture of projection through the fundamental elements of cinema—light and movement.
The conventional projection screen is deconstructed into multiple semi-transparent vertical strips resembling window blinds. As the suspended elements rotate, the projection surface becomes an active cinematic device, continuously fragmenting, layering and reconfiguring the moving image. The result is a deterritorialized projection that unfolds differently with every movement.
Grounded in the principles of Direct Cinema and cinéma vérité, the installation proposes a cinema of the moment—a spatial experience in a constant state of becoming, where reality is revealed through the unpredictable interaction of light, movement and space. The spatial experience was complemented by a site-specific sound installation by Jannis Richter.
