Project Name

THE CYBERNETIC SHED
Temporary Spatial Installation
Venice, Italy
2024

Conceived for the open call to curate the Serbian Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Architecture Biennale, The Cybernetic Shed was proposed as a spatial installation responding to the Biennale’s theme Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective., curated by Carlo Ratti.

The project explores the potential of traditional lightweight structures in the context of contemporary ecological challenges. Approaching the Earth as a subject rather than an object, the installation integrates cybernetic technologies, sensors and robotic systems to enable the dynamic transformation of the roof in response to the “movement” of the sun.

Through kinetic elements and minimal material use, the pavilion reexamines the relationship between architecture, technology and nature, advocating for the unlearning of established patterns of thinking and for a form of spatial adaptability grounded in environmental conditions rather than solely in human needs.
